JSO gets another good report card

Jan. 10, 2002

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office got another good report card from citizens last year.

In an independent public opinion poll, 79 percent said they were very satisfied or satisfied with the JSO, a small decrease from last year’s 83 percent. There was a small decrease in the percentage of dissatisfied or very dissatisfied citizens. It was four percent in the new poll, compared to six percent last year. Fourteen percent of those polled gave a neutral response and three percent gave no response.

The survey, conducted by American Public Dialogue, interviewed 538 adults on Dec. 9, 10 and 11, 2001.

The poll also measured the rating from citizens who called the JSO for service. Among those citizens, the survey found these responses: 36 percent, excellent; 33 percent, good; six percent, fair; 17 percent, poor; and 8 percent, unsure. The excellent percentage dropped by five percent and the percentage of unsure increased by six percent.

The citizen survey, now conducted annually, was started in 1992. It is part of the JSO’s reaccreditation process.
